57 Sustainability Award Winners Prove ESG Now Means Results, Not Promises

2026

August 4, 2026 — Philadelphia, PA — The Business Intelligence Group today announced the winners of the 2026 Sustainability Awards, a global recognition program honoring the companies, products, teams, and individuals turning sustainability commitments into measurable results. This year's cohort spans nine award categories and seven countries — proof that sustainable business practice has moved well past the corporate responsibility slide deck and into the core of how organizations design products, run operations, and grow.

"Sustainability used to mean a pledge. Now it means a number," said Russ Fordyce, Chief Recognition Officer at the Business Intelligence Group. "What stood out this year was how many of these winners could point to a specific, verified outcome, whether that's a repairability score, a percentage of clinker replaced, or a percentage of emissions avoided. Sustainability leadership in 2026 isn't about intent. It's about the receipts."

Overall Winner: Lenovo Repairability Program

Lenovo's Repairability Program has been named the Overall Winner of the 2026 Sustainability Awards for proving that repairability can be built into mainstream, enterprise-scale computing rather than treated as a niche feature.

“We are honored to receive this recognition. This recognition validates our belief that repairability should be a standard feature of mainstream computing, not a niche capability. From achieving the industry's first 10/10 iFixit scores on mainstream commercial notebooks to expanding access to self-repair resources and genuine parts, we are empowering customers to keep devices in service longer and reduce unnecessary replacement. Sustainability is most impactful when it scales, and repairability is a key part of that journey.” Lenovo

Over the past year, Lenovo turned right-to-repair from a talking point into a measurable product design priority. Several ThinkPad notebook models earned 9/10 iFixit repairability scores, and in 2026 the ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 became the first mainstream commercial notebooks to achieve a perfect 10/10. Since late 2023, Lenovo has published 774 self-repair guides covering roughly 58.9 million in-warranty PCs, with a helpfulness rating consistently above 90 percent. The clearest signal of customer demand: genuine parts sales grew 58.5 percent year over year, evidence that Lenovo customers are choosing to repair rather than replace.

"This initiative works because it treats repairability as a design decision, not an after-sale favor," the judging panel noted in its scoring feedback. "It moves the electronics industry's most common sustainability gap, premature device replacement, from a talking point into a measurable, customer-facing outcome."

What the 2026 Winners Reveal About Sustainability Leadership

The 2026 Sustainability Awards tell a clear story: sustainability has moved from a reporting exercise to a design constraint. These are the patterns that define this year's class.

Repairability and circularity are becoming product requirements, not marketing claims. Lenovo's Overall Winner recognition, backed by verified iFixit scores and real sales data on genuine parts, shows that circular design can hold up at enterprise scale. Charmin Ultra Bamboo and TCI's agricultural by-product program point to the same shift in consumer goods and food production, where the winning entries reduce waste at the source rather than offsetting it after the fact.

Water, life sciences and materials science are where some of the hardest technical problems are getting solved. DuPont(™) FilmTec(™) Fortilife(™) XC220 elements tackle zero-liquid-discharge wastewater treatment, MilliporeSigma introduced the first drop-in replacements for many fossil-fuel-based HPLC-grade solvents without compromising performance, and Claros Technologies are advancing water purification chemistry, and Queens Carbon is pushing lower-carbon cement toward commercial scale. InnerPlant's CropVoice adds a new category entirely: crops engineered to report their own health, replacing blanket chemical spraying with targeted intervention.

Financial services and insurance are proving sustainability and performance are not a trade-off. Mastercard highlighted exceeding its interim emissions targets while growing revenue, and Paysafe, Allstate Protection Plans, and Krungthai Bank all earned recognition for translating ESG commitments into disclosed, auditable programs rather than aspirational statements.

Healthcare, education, and public sector organizations are treating sustainability as operational infrastructure. Boston Children's Hospital and Crothall Healthcare's work at Providence Saint John's Health Center embedded efficiency and emissions reduction directly into clinical operations. Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority and Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, along with Dubai Municipality, showed that government agencies are now competing on the same measurable terms as private industry.

Sustainability leadership is no longer a C-suite title. This year's winners include a Sustainability Starter recognized less than five years into their career, a seven-person operations squad, and a founder-led startup, alongside VPs and CEOs. The range signals that BIG's judges are rewarding impact wherever it originates in an organization, not just where it sits on an org chart.

The geography of sustainability excellence continues to widen. Winners in this year's program are based in the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Serbia, Colombia, India, and Hungary, spanning manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, government, and technology.

The 2026 Sustainability Award class represents a field that has stopped debating whether sustainability belongs in the business plan. The winners are the ones already running it.
